Which decorative finish is right for my project?
It comes down to looks, grip and upkeep. Broom is simple and slip-resistant. Exposed aggregate adds texture and traction. Stamped and colored concrete give you the most design options. Our guide to choosing a concrete finish breaks down the tradeoffs.
Does decorative concrete need a sealer?
Usually, yes. A sealer helps protect color and pattern from water, de-icing salt and sun. Plan to reseal every few years, and keep salt off the surface in winter, since salt damage isn't covered by our warranty. Our guide on stamped patio care covers the details.
Can I add a finish to the concrete I already have?
Stamping, exposed aggregate and broom texture are all created while concrete is still fresh, so they're part of a new pour. If your existing slab is worn out, a removal and replacement project lets you start over with the finish you want.
