Concrete Sidewalk & Walkway Installation
A walkway is the path every guest takes to your door. When it's cracked, sunken or lifted by a tree root, people notice. Golden Paw Concrete works as concrete sidewalk contractors for homeowners and property owners across Indianapolis, installing new walks and replacing old ones as part of our concrete services. Each walk is planned for clean drainage, comfortable width and a surface that stays level through Indiana winters.
Concrete Sidewalk Contractors for Homes and Properties
Sidewalks look simple. But a walk poured on a soft base, without enough slope or control joints, cracks and shifts fast. As concrete sidewalk installers, we focus on what keeps a walk level: compacted base, a gentle cross-slope so water runs off, and joints spaced so cracks stay straight.
Walkway Projects We Handle
Front Walks
The path from the driveway or street to your front door.
Garden and Backyard Paths
Walks to the patio, shed or side gate, instead of a trail worn in the lawn.
Walks With Steps
Where the yard slopes, concrete steps keep the path safe and comfortable.
Sidewalks Along the Street
Public sidewalks in front of homes and businesses.

Sidewalk Replacement When the Old Walk Fails
Tree roots, frost heave and road salt eventually win. When slabs have lifted or crumbled, sidewalk replacement is usually the long-term fix, whether that's a few sections or the whole run. If the slabs are intact but have settled, concrete leveling may be an option worth comparing.
Many cities and towns have their own rules for public sidewalks along the street. Our guide to concrete permits explains the basics, and when your project needs a permit, we apply for it.
Finishes for Safe, Good-Looking Walks
A broom finish is the standard for sidewalks because the texture gives good grip in rain and snow. Exposed aggregate offers traction too, with natural stone showing on top. For a front walk with more personality, stamped concrete borders or colored concrete can tie the walk into the house and landscaping.
Concrete Walkway Contractors for Communities and Rentals
Walks across an apartment property need a plan for keeping residents moving during the work. Landlords and managers can see how we schedule, write scopes and invoice on our property management concrete page. Homeowners comparing concrete sidewalk companies for one front walk get the same written scope.
How a Walkway Project Works
We start with an in-person consultation to walk the route and check drainage. You review and approve a written, itemized estimate, and we discuss financing if you need it. A 50% deposit gets you on the schedule, and we apply for any permits the job requires. Once the walk is poured, we do a final walkthrough together. The remaining 50% is due at completion.
Planning Your Walkway Budget
Walkway cost varies with length, layout and finish, and the cost FAQ below explains the drivers. If spreading payments helps, ask about financing: 0% financing for 12 months, subject to credit approval. We pour March through November, and winter is a good time to get your estimate in.
Questions & Answers
Sidewalk and Walkway Questions
Have another question? Visit our FAQ page or call or text (317) 672-0966.
What does it cost to install a concrete sidewalk?
Length and width matter most, followed by tear-out of an old walk, grading, truck access, any steps, and the finish. Our concrete cost guide explains these cost drivers, and your free estimate gives you real numbers.
How wide should a walkway be?
As a general rule, a front walk wide enough for two people side by side feels welcoming, while a garden path can be narrower. We'll mark the width on the ground at the consultation so you can see it before you decide.
Can you fix trip hazards on our sidewalks?
Yes. Lifted or sunken slabs can usually be replaced section by section, which removes the lip without tearing out the whole walk. Associations with many walks to manage can see how we plan that work on our HOA concrete page.
What do tree roots do to sidewalks?
Roots grow under the slab and push it up, usually cracking it and creating a raised edge. Replacing the walk without addressing the root often brings the problem back. Our post on sidewalk replacement in Beech Grove covers the options.
Can new concrete match my existing walk?
We can match the finish and texture, but fresh concrete starts lighter than a weathered walk. The difference softens over time.
What decorative walkway options are there?
Stamped patterns, color, exposed stone and borders all work on walkways. Matching the walk to your patio or driveway finish makes the whole property feel planned. Browse ideas on our decorative concrete page.
