You get a clear explanation of what your driveway needs and why. If a cheaper option would cut a corner you'd regret later, we'll tell you so, and we'd rather be the trusted name you call again than the lowest bid on the table.

What Goes Into a Driveway That Lasts

Most driveway failures start below the surface. Indianapolis has a lot of clay, and clay holds water. When that water freezes, it lifts the slab. That's frost heave, and it's why so many older driveways crack corner to corner.

So a driveway built for central Indiana starts with the ground: a compacted sub-base, forms set so water runs away from the garage, and control joints placed where the slab can crack in a straight, planned line. Downspouts matter too. Then the concrete needs time to cure before it carries weight.

Driveway Finishes: Broom, Exposed Aggregate, Stamped and Colored

A broom finish is the classic driveway surface. The light texture gives tires and boots grip on wet or icy mornings. Exposed aggregate shows the natural stone in the mix and hides tire marks well. For more curb appeal, stamped concrete adds a stone or brick pattern, often as a border. Colored concrete can warm up plain gray or tie the drive to your brick or siding. We bring samples so you can see them next to your house.

Planning Your Driveway Budget

Every driveway is priced from its own measurements, and the FAQ below covers what moves the number. To spread out payments, ask about financing: 0% financing for 12 months, subject to credit approval. We pour March through November, but estimates happen year-round, and winter is a smart time to plan and book a spring driveway.

Questions & Answers

Concrete Driveway Questions

Have another question? Visit our FAQ page or call or text (317) 672-0966.

What does it cost to install a concrete driveway?

The biggest factors are size, thickness, truck access, tear-out of an old driveway, base grading and the finish you pick. Plain broom and a stamped, colored design are very different jobs. Our concrete cost guide explains how those factors add up, and your free estimate puts real numbers on your driveway.

How thick should a concrete driveway be?

As general guidance, residential driveways are often poured around four inches thick, and many contractors go thicker where heavy trucks, RVs or trailers park. Your written scope lists the thickness for your driveway, and our thickness and reinforcement guide explains the tradeoffs.

How long before I can drive on my new driveway?

Foot traffic is usually fine after a day or two. Most new driveways need about a week before they carry a car, and heavier vehicles should wait longer. Weather changes the timing. Our guide to caring for new concrete covers the first few weeks.

Is tearing out my old driveway part of the job?

When a project needs tear-out, removal of the old driveway is listed in your written scope before you approve anything. Our post on driveway replacement in Indianapolis covers the signs it's time.

Can you add a decorative border to a driveway?

A stamped or colored border around a broom-finished field dresses up a driveway without stamping the whole slab. Browse more ideas on our decorative concrete page.

Why do concrete driveways crack?

Concrete shrinks as it cures. Indiana adds frost heave, swelling clay, tree roots and de-icing salt. Control joints give the slab a planned place to crack. Read more in why concrete cracks in Indiana.
