Concrete Patio Installation

A good patio changes how you use your home. Morning coffee, summer cookouts, a quiet spot after work. Golden Paw Concrete works as concrete patio contractors for Indianapolis homeowners who want an outdoor space that holds up through freeze-thaw winters. Patios are one of our favorite concrete services. Our owner loves being outside creating new spaces, and few before-and-afters beat a bare backyard turned into a place people want to sit.

Crew edging and floating a fresh concrete patio in Indianapolis, IN

Custom Concrete Patio Contractors in Indianapolis

Every concrete patio installation starts at your back door, not on a price sheet. We look at the yard and ask how you'll use the space. A table for eight needs a different footprint than two chairs and a grill. Then you get a written, itemized scope before anything is scheduled.

Custom doesn't have to mean complicated. Some great patios are clean rectangles with a crisp broom finish. Others curve around a garden bed. We'll walk you through the options and never push the most expensive one.

Patio Projects We Build

New Backyard Patios

A first patio, sized for how you actually entertain.

Concrete Patio Extensions

More room on a builder-grade slab or an older patio that's too small.

Patio Replacement

Tearing out a cracked or sunken patio and starting over.

Patios With Steps

Concrete steps from a raised door down to the patio.

Paths to the Patio

A matching walkway from the driveway or side gate.

Planning a Patio for Indiana Weather

Concrete patio installers who know central Indiana start with drainage. The patio should slope gently away from the house so snowmelt doesn't sit against the foundation. Downspouts may need to move. Clay soil and frost heave call for a well-compacted base and control joints that guide cracking into straight lines.

Then there's sun and shade. A west-facing patio gets hot late in the day, and big trees bring roots that can lift a slab. Our patio design planning guide walks through these choices before you meet with us. Weighing pavers too? Our concrete vs. pavers guide compares the two honestly.

Patio Finishes and Decorative Options

Finish is where a patio gets its personality. A stamped concrete patio can look like slate, flagstone, brick or wood plank. Colored concrete adds warm tones that suit your siding. A broom finish is simple and slip-resistant. Exposed aggregate shows off natural stone. A stamped border around a broom field is a popular middle ground. Even our mascot, a golden cat with expensive taste, would approve.

Patios for Homes and Businesses

Homeowners can find other projects to pair with a patio, like steps or a garage slab, on our residential concrete page. Restaurants and offices that want outdoor seating can learn how we work with businesses.

Questions & Answers

Concrete Patio Questions

Have another question? Visit our FAQ page or call or text (317) 672-0966.

What does it cost to lay a concrete patio?

The main cost drivers are size, thickness, truck access, removing an old patio or pavers, base prep and the finish. Stamped, colored concrete takes more labor than broom. Our concrete cost guide breaks down these drivers, and your free estimate gives you real numbers for your design.

What size patio do I need?

Start with the furniture. Lay out your table, chairs and grill on the lawn and walk around them, leaving room to pull chairs back. First sketches often come out a little small.

Which finish is best for a patio?

It depends on the look you want. Broom is simple and grippy, stamped and colored are decorative, and exposed aggregate adds texture. Our guide to choosing a concrete finish compares them side by side.

Can you extend my existing patio?

If the existing slab is level and sound, a concrete patio extension can add room. If it's cracked or sunken, replacing the whole patio may last better. Our post on builder-grade concrete explains what to check on a new-build slab.

Does a new patio need to be sealed?

Decorative concrete, like stamped and colored patios, is usually sealed to protect the color and resealed every few years. We'll go over care at your walkthrough. Our de-icing salt guide explains why salt is so hard on concrete.

Can a patio include steps or a wall?

Yes. Many patios step down from a back door or sit on a sloped lot that needs a low wall. We can plan the patio, steps and concrete retaining walls as one project.
